Article published in Dropline.biz on March 20, 2006 Musician Yanni Arrested─“Accusation of Domestic Violence” By Stephen Alexander (co-authored by Dino M. Zaffina) International music star Yanni, 51, whose legal name is John Yanni Christopher was arrested in the early morning of March 3, 2006, at his beachfront home in Manalapan, Florida after his girlfriend, Silvia Barthes, 33, made allegations of domestic violence. The Greek born singer/pianist faces domestic battery charges. Yanni spent 12 hours in the Palm Beach County jail. Police responded to Yanni’s home after a 911 call by Barthes. According to a police report, Yanni had told Barthes to leave his house. After packing her clothes, she claims that actress Linda Evans of Dynasty fame (former girlfriend of Yanni) threw her things on the ground, grabbed and shook her, and then threw her on the bed and jumped on top of her. Ironically, no charges have been filed against Evans. Yanni denies all allegations. He claims that Barthes kicked him and that he injured his finger during the altercation. In a statement released by Yanni’s manager, Danny O’Donovan, Yanni says, “These allegations are cruel, false, without merit and baseless.” “At a more appropriate time and place, I hope and pray I will have an opportunity to address my fans and colleagues all over the world.” _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ |
